William Allen White, known as the "Sage of Emporia", was a nationally-renowned journalist and the editor of Emporia Gazette. A friend of Theodor Roosevelt, White was the first Kansan and alumnus of the University to win the Pulitzer Prize. The William Allen White School of Journalism is named in his honor.
