Policies of the Project

The KUpedia Project has established a few guidelines and policies for the general use of the wiki. Please follow them in good faith.

  • 1. Be nice! This resource is not meant provide an outlet for hit pieces, unfounded opinion, or inflammatory language. Assume good faith with your edits and refrain from attacking people. We will have very little tolerance for personal attacks (especially on other students).
  • 2. Be honest! KUpedia is meant to be a factual database of important knowledge for KU students. Cite articles when you can and write with a focus on truth and not hearsay and gossip in mind.
  • 3. Articles are not advertisements! Articles should be as neutral as possible and not use promotional language and flowery prose to convey a message.
  • 4. Don't take it personally! If someone edits your article, check the discussion page to see the rationale. If you are still unsure why someone edited your article message them or one of the administrators. No one is trying to insult you with their recommended edit.
  • 5. DO NOT PLAGIARIZE! It is against the law to simply copy and paste information from a copyrighted source, such as another website, without permission. Instead, use the information contained on the page to write a summary in your own words, then include a cite to the page containing the information. If you noticed plagiarized information, please be liberal with your edits and remove it from the wiki.
  • 6. Write! If you have anything you can contribute, this wiki will be better off with it, than without. Do you know when tuition is due? or what Safe Ride is? Do you know the hours of Watkins Health Center or the Watson Library? Please add those articles if you do.
  • 7. Communicate. If you are confused about something, please write your question on the discussion page for the article. Someone will be glad to help you.
