Jayhawk Boulevard is the central campus thoroughfare, running from the Chi Omega Fountain to the Kansas Union. After that the road leaves campus and is known as Oread Avenue. It has undergone numerous upgrades, at one time containing streetcars. Today, the road is closed from 7:45 am to 5 pm on weekdays when classes are in session to through traffic, and is only accessible to buses, KU Facilities and Operations, those with disabled permits and those with a Gold Parking Pass.
