Chi Omega
From KUpedia
Chi Omega is a sorority at the University of Kansas.
The Lambda Chapter of Chi Omega is one of 13 Panhellenic chapters on the KU campus. The Chi Omega house rests on the corner of Jayhawk Boulevard and West Campus Road and overlooks most of campus. The KU Chapter was installed on December 18, 1902. The current chapter house was completed in 1925 and a new wing was constructed and completed in 1965. The house is one of only two chapter facilities on campus that is listed on the National Historic Registrar.
One of the most well-known features of the Chi Omega house is the Chi Omega Fountain, which was built by its members and donated to the university in the 1950's. The fountain rests in front of the Chapter house and serves as a 3-way round about. Today the fountain is a campus hot spot and very popular on warm Kansas days.
In May of 2007, the chapter facility was struck by a pick-up truck after a high-speed chase with police down Jayhawk Boulevard. [1] While no members were injured in the accident, the facility faced extensive damage and repairs took over 7 months to complete.
